What are Chakras?
Chakras are energy centers within the body, often envisioned as spinning wheels or discs of energy that play a crucial role in maintaining our overall health and well-being. To function optimally, these chakras need to be balanced and open, allowing energy to flow freely through them.
Each of the seven main chakras corresponds to specific organs, nerves, and parts of the energetic body, influencing our mental, emotional, and physical states.
Blocked Chakras
Blocked chakras occur when the energy flow through one or more of the body's energy centers is obstructed or imbalanced. Each chakra corresponds to specific physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of our being, and blockages can manifest in various symptoms.
When your chakras are blocked, you may experience emotional, mental or physical symptoms that are related to that particular energy center.
Balancing the chakras through practices such as meditation, yoga, energy healing, and mindfulness can help restore the natural flow of energy, alleviating these symptoms and promoting overall well-being.
The 7 Main Chakras
In these 7 meditations you will get a better understanding of each energy center as you learn what it feels like when it is blocked and when it’s open.
Crown Chakra
The crown chakra, known as Sahasrara in Sanskrit, is the seventh and highest chakra in the human body. Located at the top of the head, it represents the connection to the divine and the universe, embodying pure consciousness, enlightenment, and spiritual awakening. When balanced, it fosters a sense of peace, wisdom, and unity with the universe. It is associated with the color violet or white and influences our thoughts, awareness, and understanding of our higher purpose. A blocked or imbalanced crown Chakra can lead to feelings of disconnection, lack of inspiration, and spiritual doubt.
Third Eye Chakra
The third eye chakra, also known as Ajna in Sanskrit, is the sixth chakra and is located in the center of the forehead, between the eyebrows. It is associated with intuition, insight, and inner wisdom, serving as the center of perception and command. This chakra governs our ability to see both physically and intuitively, enhancing our psychic abilities and helping us access deeper truths and insights. When balanced, the third eye chakra allows for clear thought, spiritual contemplation, and self-reflection. It is often associated with the color indigo. An imbalanced third eye chakra can result in confusion, lack of focus, and difficulty connecting with one’s intuition.
Throat Chakra
The throat chakra, known as Vishuddha in Sanskrit, is the fifth chakra and is located at the throat. It is associated with communication, self-expression, and truth. This chakra governs our ability to speak and listen effectively, express our thoughts and feelings, and maintain integrity in our words. When balanced, the throat chakra allows for clear and honest communication, creativity, and a strong sense of purpose. It is linked to the color blue. An imbalanced throat chakra can lead to issues such as difficulty expressing oneself, fear of speaking, or conversely, speaking too much without listening.
Heart Chakra
The heart chakra, known as Anahata in Sanskrit, is the fourth chakra and is located at the center of the chest. It is the bridge between the lower physical chakras and the higher spiritual chakras, representing love, compassion, and emotional balance. This chakra governs our ability to give and receive love, form harmonious relationships, and cultivate forgiveness and empathy. When balanced, the heart chakra fosters feelings of joy, inner peace, and connectedness with others. It is associated with the color green. An imbalanced heart chakra can lead to issues such as emotional instability, difficulty in relationships, and feelings of loneliness or resentment.
Solar Plexis Chakra
The solar plexus chakra, known as Manipura in Sanskrit, is the third chakra and is located in the upper abdomen, around the stomach area. It is associated with personal power, self-confidence, and self-esteem. This chakra governs our ability to assert ourselves, make decisions, and take control of our lives. It is the center of our willpower, motivation, and sense of purpose. When balanced, the solar plexus chakra promotes a strong sense of self, confidence, and the ability to take action towards our goals. It is associated with the color yellow. An imbalanced solar plexus chakra can result in issues such as low self-esteem, lack of direction, or, conversely, an overbearing personality and a desire to control others.
Sacral Chakra
The sacral chakra, known as Svadhisthana in Sanskrit, is the second chakra and is located in the lower abdomen, just below the navel. It is associated with creativity, pleasure, sexuality, and emotional balance. This chakra governs our ability to experience joy, form intimate relationships, and express our creativity. It also influences our capacity to embrace change and enjoy life's pleasures. When balanced, the sacral chakra allows for healthy emotional expression, creative energy, and a fulfilling sex life. It is linked to the color orange. An imbalanced sacral chakra can lead to issues such as emotional instability, creative blocks, sexual dysfunction, or, conversely, excessive indulgence in pleasures.
Root
The root chakra, known as Muladhara in Sanskrit, is the first chakra and is located at the base of the spine. It is associated with grounding, stability, and security. This chakra governs our basic survival needs, such as food, shelter, and safety, as well as our sense of connection to the physical world. It is the foundation for all other chakras, providing the energy and stability needed for growth and balance. When balanced, the root chakra fosters feelings of safety, confidence, and trust in the world. It is linked to the color red. An imbalanced root chakra can result in issues such as anxiety, fear, insecurity, and physical problems related to the legs, feet, and lower back.
Balancing Your Chakras
When one of these is out of balance, it can affect how you live your life. When multiple chakras are blocked our out of balance, you will experience this imbalance in many ways. There can be a depletion of energy or even too much energy in the chakras at times. When an energy center is low in energy, you’ll have a challenging time expressing the qualities of that chakra. When there is an overflow of energy or the chakra is overactive, the qualities are dominant forces in your life and can have many mental, emotional and physical effects.
Many physical imbalances begin as energetic imbalances. The physical body including the organs,
joints and bones are effected in the area of the correlating chakra.
Imbalanced chakras can also cause emotional imbalance which can cause you to feel irritable, overly sensitive,
angry, sad, indecisive or other off balance emotions.
Many of the things we have experienced in our life emotionally have been stored as an energetic imprint on our energy bodies and chakras. Things like trauma, pain, sadness, fear. This creates a distortion or block. Sometimes we hold onto these blocks for years and this creates resistance in the flow of our life.
When this happens we allow the old programs to run. For example, if someone hurt you in the past, you may keep playing out a fear vibration and prevent yourself from opening up to new people or opportunities in fear of being hurt again. Or you may have grown up in a home with a lack of mindset and have trouble obtaining abundance as an adult because of the programming your parents instilled.
All of these blocks can be released, and the energy can be cleared. By allowing yourself to let go, you free yourself of living as your old identity. You can shift into a new way of being that is more high-vibrational.
Stress is a big cause of imbalanced chakras. The way you eat, live and spend your time also effects your energy centers. If you allow the imbalance to prolong, it can create anxiety, depression, illness, and other mental, emotional or physical issues.
By doing things to balance your chakras, you are making the way you feel physically, mentally and
emotionally a priority. This can change your entire life!
